Lodha Brothers Resolve Brand Dispute Following Three-Month Mediation: Sources
As per informed sources, the well known brothers and real estate barons Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha-the former head of Macrotech Developers-have reportedly settled the dispute amicably over the use of the brand name "Lodha".
The parties had been mediating before retired Justice RV Raveendran, who was appointed by the Bombay High Court. Sources state that both brothers have agreed that Macrotech Developers is the exclusive owner of the brands "Lodha" and "Lodha Group", whereas Abhinandan's HoABL owns the brand House of Abhinandan Lodha.
Additionally, both the brothers would have no rights in other's businesses, and both would "communicate widely" that both the entities are not associated with one another.
After years of haggling, during two family settlement deals, Abhishek Lodha and Macrotech approached the court in January 2025 with a brand infringement case against Abhinandan and HoABL, alleging that they were using the "Lodha" brand for its plotted development projects in Goa, Ayodhya, and other places. Macrotech wanted HoABL to be restrained from using the brand name, and also claimed Rs 5,000 crore as damages in its petition to the Bombay High Court.
It's true that HoABL has denied using the brand "Lodha" for its projects in reply to Macrotech's cited instances, which would be used by other third-party individuals, like brokers, and therefore it won't be able to be held accountable for the same. In actual reality, the HoABL and Abhinandan have been carrying out the settlement agreed upon in 2017 by the brothers.
